The reverse bears a handwritten message in ink: 'Thank you very much for your card. I was very pleased to hear from you. [Illegible] also thanks you for her card and she says she will write to you in a day or two. We all congratulate you very heartily on on your engagement. Will and me hope you will both be very happy. I was not surprised to hear the news, and I also hope you will have an enjoyable trip to Ft. William and back. Good luck.'
