Gas mask holder damaged by bomb shrapnel, including denting of body of container and holes torn into body of container from bomb shrapnel. Belonging to Mr Albert Charles, killed on 15 July 1940 by a bomb that fell in Pembroke Gardens, whilst he was cycling home from his workplace, the North Road Postal Sorting Office.

It belonged to Mr Albert Charles, killed on 15 July 1940 by a bomb that fell in Pembroke Gardens, Hove, whilst he was cycling home from his workplace, the North Road Postal Sorting Office. The force of the bomb blast can be seen by the damage it has caused to the gas mask holder, including denting and holes.
