Oil painting after cleaning by Stig Evans (Painting Conservator). The painting was chosen to be part of the Victorian hang at the ceremony rooms. It had a yellow degraded varnish muting the colours and flattening the space; this was carefully cleaned. The painting was then glazed with optimum low-reflect acrylic before installation.
The painting shows a group of nine women standing or kneeling on the seashore filling baskets with white flatfish. Grey sea and yellowish sky behind.
