Description: Mayor of Brighton Margaret Hardy at the naming of the Brighton Belle train service on 29 June 1934. The service was previously known as the Southern Belle and was comprised of electric Pullman units from 1 January 1933. The service, scheduled to take 60 minutes for the 51-mile express journey, retained its Brighton Belle title until its withdrawal in the 1970s.
