Description (Object or Artwork): (From Allen, 'History of Sussex') This coloured print shows Portland Place built in 1823 by Charles Augustus Busby and which burnt down three months later. On the right can be seen two mounted horses and a man in red with a plumed hat followed by a woman in blue with a parasol. two children with hoops in front of the building and a horse and carriage to left with a man on crutches to the right of the carriage. The grand front of six Corinthian columns stand on top of six steps and there is a lion on the pediment at the top of the building.
