Description (Object or Artwork): This monochrome photographic postcard was produced during World War One, when the Royal Pavilion estate was used as a military hospital for wounded Indian soldiers. The image shows the large ward in the Dome auditorium. A few soldiers are in bed, but most are sat on chairs beside their beds. Several nurses and doctors can be seen administering medicines. Towards the centre bottom of the image, one British gentleman in military uniform stands near a bed as if talking to a patient. The postcard was one of a series issued by the Corporation of Brighton with the assistance of the military authorities.
