This magic lantern slide shows the Royal Pavilion during its use as an Indian Military Hospital during World War One. It was probably produced by Henry Roberts, the Director of the Pavilion, to illustrate later lectures on the subject. The image shows wounded Indian soldiers recuperating in the Music Room. Like many rooms in the Pavilion, this room had been converted into a ward. Although this photograph had been widely circulated in postcard format, the dimensions of the magic lantern slide allow for a clearer view of the chandeliers and ceiling decoration.
