This postcard shows a group of Indian patients, officers and orderlies at the Royal Pavilion Indian Hospital. In the front centre sits Mir Dast. The Royal Pavilion, Dome and Corn Exchange acted as a military hospital for wounded Indian soldiers from December 1914 until early 1916. A Muslim Pathan, Mir Dast was awarded the Victoria Cross by King George V at the Pavilion in August 1915. This photograph was probably taken during the ceremony.
