This painting by Edouard Chappel shows a still life arrangement of fish, lobsters, a turkey and lemons and leeks in a bowl. Chappel, though born in Belgium, spent most of his painting life based in a studio in Fulham, London. Dead food animals appear in many of his still life paintings. Brighton & Hove Museums holds another painting by Chappel titled {i} River Cagnes {/i}.
