Numerous figures are seen on the ice, whilst a horse pulls a sleigh or cart. The artist has added an element of humour, with one figure dramatically slipping on the ice. c.1600.
This painting shows a winter scene with people walking across a frozen river. To the right hand side stands a large windmill. The painting is part of the Stanford bequest of Preston Manor and its contents to the Brighton Corporation in 1932.
