Eley Bros. Ltd. cartridge cases box containing 'Samples of British & Roman pottery found under surface soil, including that of intersected balks, during excavation of new road. Ladies Mile & Park Bottom, Spring 1920.' Also contains: sample of rubbed oyster shell and slate found by William Law in 1916 on the surface of ploughed field south east of Harrington Farm, Brighton; oyster shells from Romano-British pottery, some at base of mould capping large balk in Park Bottom, picked up by Herbert Samuel Toms, 16 March 1920 - 'they are apparently artificially rubbed or beach worn examples'; specimen of the handmade pottery sherd found in shallow trench when walking new road near crest of Ladies Mile.
