Summary: Beryl Libin has lived in Sandgate Road all her life where she was born in 1923. Her father was a gardener who had been a conscientious objector in World War I and remained one in World War II. The family were highly supportive of their neighbours and the locally billeted troops. Beryl married a Canadian soldier and moved to Canada for a few years after the war before returning to her family home.
