Description: This is an albumen photographic print of J W Waldron's Smith & Bicycle Works at 5 Gardner Street, Brighton. Waldron's occupied the site from 1874 to 1903. The building is a ramshackle wooden construction, with a steep ladder leading to the upper floors. Numerous penny farthing style bicycles can be seen through the open shutters of the first floor. Four men are posing with similar bicycles in front of the property.
