Fawn coloured library card with the heraldic badge of the Prince of Wales' three feathers and coronet with the motto 'ICH DIEN', German for 'I Serve' attached to side of coronet, engraved in black at the top. Engraved beneath is 'WILKES'S Circulating Library, Marine Parade, Brighton. Jewellery, Perfumery, Gloves, Parasols, Toys & Stationary of all Sorts. ALL BOOKS, with the Names Donaldson & Wilkes, non belong to R. Wilkes only.' At bottom in small print is 'Berook, Sc. Engraver to ? Majesty H.R.H P. of Wales, 302, Strand'.
