Plaster frieze miniatures. A wooden case containing seven [originally eight] trays of white plaster casts. The subject is the Phigaleian frieze brought to The British Museum in 1812 depicting the contest of the Amazons and Greeks, and the Centaurs and Lapiths. The miniatures (3" high), are "perfected" and were made by John Henning (1771-1851) in 1817-1821. See Dictionary of National Biography Vol. 25 p.246.
