This photographic print was made by the Borough Surveyor's department. It records work in progress on the modernisation of Brighton Aquarium. Although the work necessitated the closure of the Aquarium for some eighteen months, the loss of such an attraction was not sufficient to deter the crowds of visitors on the left and right hand sides of the picture.
