This photographic print was made by the Borough Surveyor's department. It shows an air shelter that is under construction. This shelter was intended to be used for St Mark's school, Arundel Road, Brighton. This photograph was part of a record of local provisions against possible air attack. War with Germany had been declared some three weeks before this photograph was taken.
