Description (Object or Artwork): This photographic print was made by the Borough Surveyor's department. It shows an air raid shelter designated for use by St John the Baptist and All Souls schools, Kemp Town, Brighton. The shelter is constructed from sandbags and corrugated iron and has been situated against a derelict building. This print was made as part of a record of local provisions against air attack. War with Germany had been declared three months before this photograph was taken.
