Description (Object or Artwork): This photographic print was made by the Borough Surveyor's department. It is an interior view of an air raid shelter beneath the Royal Pavilion, Brighton. Two shelter wardens can be seen at the rear of the shelter. This photograph was made as part of a record of local provisions in the event of an air raid attack. War had been declared with Germany less than three weeks before this photograph was taken.
