This photographic print shows numerous men at a boxing match. The bald man smoking a cigar is Brighton entrepreneur Sir Harry Preston. Preston played a significant role in revitalising Brighton in the early 1900s. Most notably, he redeveloped the Royal York and Royal Albion Hotels. The photograph is a copy of an original print, and was made by the Borough Surveyor's department. The Surveyor's purpose in making this copy if unclear.
