Title (of Artwork / Object): Design for a Royal Marine Palace - proposed to be erected at Brighton
Creator (of Artwork / Object): Gauci W; Hanhart
Date Created (of Object / Artwork): 1831C.
Description (Object or Artwork): A splendid grandiose concept by David Mocatta, the architect of the Brighton Railway Station in 1841, for the banker Isaac Lyon Goldsmid. This is the only design for the residence in Brighton to incorporate the sea as an essentail feature and would have surpassed even the Royal Pavilion for splendour, and no doubt, expense. The building lower right corner is Adelaide Terrace, which was designed by Decimus Burton for Goldsmid and built in 1830.
