Clock, c1807. Mantel clock in the Egyptian style. The movement, with drapery and scarabs, is supported on the arms of the bronze figure of Isis, goddess of the moon. She stands before a niche flanked by piers inset on front and side with ormolu plaques moulded with obelisks, figures of Horus, Osiris-apis with sun-disk and a variety of other symbols from Egyptian antiquity. Related to the design of Thomas Hope for the flaxman room of his house in Duchess Street, Mayfair. This design is illustrated in his "Household Furniture and Interior Decoration" of 1807 plate 13.
