This painting is of Charles Prince of Wales, who later became Charles II, as a young boy wearing a yellow suit and collar. The picture is a late eighteenth century copy of a figure seen in Van Dyck's portrait of the 'Three Children of Prince Charles 1st' 1635 in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle. The painting is part of the Stanford bequest of Preston Manor and its contents to the Brighton Corporation in 1932.
