Description (Object or Artwork): This photographic print shows a backdrop manhole during construction. The manhole is situated on Sutherland Road. The work seems to have been carried as part of improvements to the Craven Vale Estate in Brighton. The print was made by the Borough Surveyor's department in December 1952. A smiling workman can be seen in the manhole holding a spade.
