Description: Taken from Bruce's 'History of Brighton', a view of Kemptown from the sea. It shows the Crescent, the wings of which 840' x 200' being greater than the span of the Royal Crescent at Bath. To the left of the print, on the choppy sea, is a steam boat which looks small in comparison to the sailing boats. To the centre left is a small boat in full sail with a white sail; in the centre foreground three men in a rowing boat; to the right a larger boat with a darker sail and to far right another smaller boat of similar hue.
This prints has a coat of arms below the print and writing to say the plate is dedicated to J. R. Kemp by J.Bruce
In small writing within the border is printed, Published by the artist at No.1 Steine Place and the first tower on the Chain Pier, Brighton.
