The Yellow Book was a fashionable magazine running from 1894–97. It took its name from the notorious covering into which controversial French novels were placed at the time. The founding principles were that literature and art should be treated independently and given equal status, Aubrey Beardsley was appointed art editor. This design was not used as Beardsley was dismissed as art editor just prior to publication.
