Scarnell's Royal Sea-House Hotel was 'Situated on the King's Road, Brighton commanding an uniterrupted Marine view.' In the print can be seen on the left two boats on the beach and a man leaning on the railings by the lamp post. On the road is a closed carriage and horses in in the right forground a man women and children with a dog. There is smoke coming from the central chimney. The Royal Sea-House Hotel was originally called the the Ship in Distress, when King's Road was built in 1822 the building was rebuilt and the name changed to the Sea House. Nelson's widow stayed there in 1830 where William 1V called on her. The landlord then added Royal to the name.
