Description (Object or Artwork): Sussex County Hospital showing the additional two wings . A coach and horses leaving through the gates of the hospital. Man pulling a loaded cart outside the hospital gates with coach and horses heading towards him. Various figures walk alongside the hospital gates. In the near foreground there are slabs and blocks of stone, a barrel, a spade and a pickaxe. Nearby one man points towards the hospital whilst talking to another man with a small child. To the left in the background to the north east is part of the town and downland. Victoria Wing on the left founded 17th August 1838 and the Adelaide Wing founded 13th August 1840. The building was designed by Charles Barry in 1825, finished in 1828. Many additions have subsequently been made.
