On the roof is a large weathervane in the shape of an arrrow. On the facade is written 'Sussex County Hospital, and General Sea Bathing Infirmary Erected Anno Domini 1823. The building was designed by Charles Barry in 1825, finished in 1828. Many additions have subsequently been made. [DUP]
