Centre foreground, Figure of a soldeir with sword talks to standing woman holding small boys hand, boy wears tri-cornered hat , holding whip. Two dogs beside him facing each other. Far left woman with cllosed parasol sits on bench with standing man in top hat. Far right three muscians seated, one playing a harp.Funnel of steam boat with smoke pouring from chimmney behind and to left of muscians. Various groups stroll on pier deck. In ink under image bottom left 'Hughes. Printer' The pairs of towers were modelled on the design of the pylon gateways of Karnak in Egypt
