Description (Object or Artwork): Perspective view of the Chain Pier and Pier Head from the Pier looking North towards Brighton. Four piles visible with four pairs of towers each pair joined at the top by a pyramidal arch. Centre foreground man in top hat arm in arm with woman . Figure of single womanwith parasol to right. Two women and a man arm in arm in foreground centre left. Funnel of steam boat with smoke pouring ot visible to right. The pairs of towers were modelled on the design of the pylon gateways of Karnak in Egypt
