Description (Object or Artwork): The blockhouse was erected on the edge of the cliff near the southern end of Middle Street. It consited of a small circular building, 50' in diameter, 18' high, with walls 7 or 8' thick, in which there were arched recesses for keeping powder and shot. This view shows the ruins of the blockhouse and several cottages near by. Cliffs in front are covered in vegetation. Two men bottom left one holding a stick in his right hand towards the cliff. There are boulders on the beach. This print has a history of the blockhouse below the engraving and an epitaph to Nicholas Tattershall on the reverse. Duplicate
