Description (Object or Artwork): The Battery, Brighton. Including view of the Artillery Lodge and Baths. Seafront to the left with row of cannons and pile of cannon balls right. Bath house on right with sign reading 'Hobden's Artillery Baths'. Men and women walking along footpath right. Horse and carriage on road. Flag pole in centre. Boats on beach and bathing machines, in the foreground is a man with his right arm raised and a woman with a parasol with a seated dog to her left. The Battery was between Russell Street and Cannon Place, on the site now occupied by the Grand Hotel, the Battery was demolished in 1858.
