Portrait of a man wearing a black clerical robe and tie, he holds a piece of paper in his hand. He was the Rev. James Stuart Murray Anderson perpetual curate of St George's Church, Kemp Town in 1828 until 1851. He was the first chaplain of the Sussex County Hospital until 1835, a life govenor and eventually chairman of the managing committee. He was the first hon. secretary of the Kemp Town Enclosures Committee and held that office for 19 years. He was also Town Commissioner and from 1844 to 1858 was Chaplain to Lincoln's Inn.
