Description: Printed and enamelled 'The Centinel at his Post or BONEY'S peep into Walmer Castle!!'. Depicts William Pitt, dressed as Colonel of the Cinque Port Volunteers at Walmer Castle, hailing a group of French (including Napoleon) arriving by boat. Pitt withdrew briefly when out of office in 1801, to Walmer Castle his base as Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. Pearlware, made in Staffordshire, c1802. Part of the 'England and France' theme in the Willett Collection.
