Monochrome photograph showing the crew of the 'Brighton Queen', a Paddle Steamer moored at the south end of the West Pier. The boat was built in 1897 by J and G Thomson at Clydebank. It operated cruises on the Sussex coast for the Brighton, Worthing and South Coast Steamboat Company. Purchased by P and A Campbell after the 1901 season and reconditioned with the main deck totally plated up and fitted with ports. It ran on the south coast of England and one day excursions to France and was converted for minesweeping duties in World War I, based on the Thames. It was mined and sunk on October 6th 1915 off the Belgian coast.
