Written on reverse: 'Presented by Miss Donne, portrait of the donor's relative's mother or grandmother, Sarah Ann Hudson, aged 6 years in 1844; subsequently married Sarah Ann Donne. Sarah was born in Portslade daughter of Henry & Mary Huson a farmer of 80 acres. When married she lived at 58 Denmark Villas as did her daughter Marion Donne at her death in 1948. Sarah Ann Donne died in 1907 aged 69. Sampler worked by Sarah Ann Hudson is held by Brighton Museum No.2935/2.
