Signed "H.Beer" On the reverse of the drawing are some notes by A. Laws written on 31 May 1930. 'On the right of the drawing are the old card's cottages, said to have beeen 300-400 years old and which were demolished c.1900 by the Rev. R A C Bevan, Rector of Hurst.
"Cards Place" shops were built by the same Rev. on the site of the cottages, Mr Henderson Webb of Dyke Road Brighton being the Architect. On the left of the drawing was in occupation of Mr Bailey Harrison. later by Mr Morley-baker and in 1930 Mr Vigor, Coal Factor etc.'
