Description (Object or Artwork): This postcard shows wounded Indian soldiers inside the Royal Pavilion, Brighton. The convalescing troops are seated inside a ward with two nurses and several British soldiers visible behind them. Between Decmeber 1914 and January 1916 the Royal Pavilion was used as a hospital for Indian soldiers injured during the First World War. This was well-publicised at the time, and the staged nature of the photograph makes clear that this was produced for commemorative purposes.
