This monochrome photographic print is showing a group of Kachin soldiers eating together. Kachin soldiers worked under the British colonial administration and served in the British Army. James Henry Green, a recruiting officer for the Burma Rifles who spent more than twenty years in Burma described them as being amongst the ‘toughest and most disciplined’ of British military recruits. This photograph was taken by Green in the 1920s.
