Kachin people would always have to bring gifts for the family hosting a ceremony and the kind of gift would be determined by the kinship relationship of the families. Gongs, baskets, swords and spears so on could all be given according to whether the families could give or take brides from each other, or whether they were clan cousins which did not exchange brides.
