Postcard featuring a photograph image of the 'Brighton United Twins', the conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton (5 February 1908 – early January 1969).
They were born at 18 Riley Road, Brighton to barmaid Kate Skinner. Her employer, Mary Hilton, took the sisters under her care and exhibited them in Britain, Europe, Australia and before heading to the United States in 1916. They toured the United States sideshow, vaudeville and burlesque circuits in the 1920s and 1930s. They were best known for their film appearances in Freaks (1932) and Chained for Life (1952).
