Burma image, WA1404. Bhamo lake and Kachin Hills.
"Most of the trade between Bhamo and China passes through the little river side town of Bhamo. Bhamo is the terminus of the great Burmese water-way, and of the Yunnanese trade route. It is therefore a place of unique importance and interest. For centuries traders and soldiers have used this place for commerce and war between the two countries. The main street is entirely Chinese in appearance and the fine old Chinese temple contains a beautiful image of Kwanyin, Mother of Mercy."
['Races of Burma', Major C. M. Enriquez, Meiktila, 1920, p.18]
