"The plaids of the Hakas and the independent southerners are often woven entirely of silk. Red, blue and green are the colours which predominate, and much fine ornamentation is indulged in. Not only is the material expensive, but the weaving by hand of the plaid is the daily work of quite a year even for the quickest and most experienced Haka woman." ['The Chin Hills: Vol. I', B. S.
