Description: Flat-backed group commemorating the match between Tom Sayers (1828-1865), the Champion of England and John Heenan from the United States which took place 17 April 1860. The figure group is moulded with two bare-chested pugilists, punching each other in the face. Enamelled earthenware, made in Staffordshire, c1860. Part of the 'Field Sports' theme in the Willett Collection.
