Printed creamware. showing a scene of John Gilpin on a runaway horse, flying past 'The Bell' at Edmonton, where he was to have enjoyed his wedding anniversary breakfast. Inscribed with verse 37: "Stop, stop, John Gilpin! - here's the house!"/ They all at once did cry; " The dinner waits, and we are tired"/ Said Gilpi, "So am I!" On the reverse an unrelated scene of a man riding towards the visible spire of the church of Great St Mary. Made in Staffordshire, c1790.
